Updating a tri level house

When construction wraps up in October, Fay's house should barely resemble the stereotypical split-level. Homeowners across the country are transforming formerly dark, standoffish splits into houses blessed with bright airy insides and curb appeal to spare.

Closely related to bi-level houses, these plans have an entry level as well as stacked living and sleeping areas, which is why they are sometimes referred to as tri-level homes.After almost 25 years in residence, they knew their kitchen had to be updated, but they wanted it to integrate well with the rest of the house.
